Fearful--Ieper

The journey did not ceased in Brugges. On a cloudy Saturday morning, I took the train in the direction of southwest. In a few hour, I was in Ieper, a city that has a history of blood, and tears.

It was indeed a city that has experienced wars after wars. Hundreds of thousands of people became casulties of wars there. It was a city of sadness, but at least, time has washes away some gloominess.

There were some activities going on; people from all over there world cramped into this small town. In remembrance of the long-gone history, they walked around 30 KM everyday, for three days. I guess they wanted to experience what their ancestors had gone through, but this time, without violence and blood.

I did not managed to get a place to stay when I spoke with the lady in the tourist center. However, she got me a place out of town that requires me to ride for 5 km. Hard to believe I was quick to take the offer.

It was not only 5 km I rode and the place was nothing but a house in the middle of the field. My heart sank and I decided to stay in my room for the whole night, thinking to get out of this place as soon as the day breaks.

After breakfast, I rode back to where I come from. It was pleasant, as breezes of freedom rushed through me.  I visited "In Flander Field Museum" in the morning, my heart was heavy as I leave the place, with sorrows. In this world of mess, I hope for peace.

It was a short journey, but long enough for me to remember always.
